input gain within the allowable range of X0.8 to X25. Use
SCXI_Set_Excitation to set the excitation level and frequency. The
allowable level settings are 1 V
rms
and 3 V
rms
. The allowable frequency
settings are 2.5, 3.3, 5, or 10 kHz. Use
SCXI_Configure_Connection to
set the wiring configuration to 4-wire or 5-wire and to enable external
synchronization for channels that need their frequency slaved to a master
channel.
The SCXI-1540 also has an onboard EEPROM that has gain and offset
calibration constants for each channel on the module. NI-DAQ
automatically uses these constants in the
SCXI_Scale function to
compensate for amplifier gain and offset errors when scaling binary data to
voltage data. You can initiate a loop-back calibration at any time by calling
the
SCXI_Calibrate, which updates the user calibration constants in
EEPROM.
SCXI_Calibrate is also used to overwrite these constants
with the original factory-calibration data.
The SCXI-1315 terminal block provides a convenient method of
connecting field wiring from LVDTs, RVDTs, and resolvers to the front
signal connector of the SCXI-1540.
MIO and AI DAQ Devices (Except Parallel Port Devices)
The MIO and AI DAQ devices (except parallel port devices) support the
following analog input functionality when using the SCXI analog input
modules:
Single-channel analog input using the analog input functions described
in Chapter 3, Software Overview, of the NI-DAQ User Manual for PC
Compatibles.
Single-channel data acquisition using the data acquisition functions
described in Chapter 3, Software Overview, of the NI-DAQ User
Manual for PC Compatibles.
Multiple-channel and interval scanning using the
SCAN functions
described in Chapter 3, Software Overview, of the NI-DAQ User
Manual for PC Compatibles.
You also can use the analog output modules and digital modules in
multiplexed mode with the MIO and AI devices (except parallel ports).
If you are using analog input modules with digital or analog output
modules, you must cable the MIO or AI device to an analog input module.
It is important to remember that when a DAQ device is cabled to an SCXI
module, some of the DAQ device I/O connector pins and therefore some of
the device resources will be reserved for SCXI use.
